Lahore School Flood Relief Efforts


Lahore School of Economics is helping Flood 2010 effected people in a big way. Students and staff contributed generously to the Governor’s Relief Fund and are also helping through independent initiatives. Lahore School is building 14 dwellings for flood effectees in Jampur village.


The School team of students and staff undertook a damage survey in Jampur - a far flung town of South Punjab. A community in Jampur was selected on the basis of the extent of damage afflicted and resource limitation for reconstruction. A second socio-economic survey was conducted to select the eligible families. Priority was given to families headed by a female, income and size of the family. An architect accompanied the team and prepared the design drawings. A local team of activists volunteered to supervise the construction. 


Ten families have already moved into their new homes built by the School. Three more homes are in  the final stages of construction.
