Lahore School Thirteenth Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications
April 13, 2018
The Lahore School of Economics, Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences hosted, Thirteenth Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA18)”, on 7-8 April, 2018, at the Lahore School’s Burki Campus, Amjad Chaudhry Library.
The goal of this conference was to bring together mathematicians and users of mathematics to talk to each other, to transfer problems, ideas and methods from one community to the other, so as to enhance progress in understanding. The "RAMMMA" tradition has these key features: the number of participants is usually bounded above by 80 with a mix of pure and applied interests; there are no parallel sessions so that all participants focus on each presentation and fully engage in each topic; and there is ample time for discussion of each presentation. The areas of interest of this conference were (but not limited to): Numerical Analysis; Generalization of Intuitionistic fuzzy set with Application in fuzzy sets; Algebraic Linearization; Financial mathematics; Mathematical Biology.
Professor Dr. Ismat Beg has not only contributed to the ongoing research in Pakistan but has also brought together many researchers and mathematicians. The main organizers of the conference were Dr. Ismat Beg, Dr. Asma Khalid and Anum Qayyum from Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences, Lahore School of Economics. The local organizers of the conference were Professor Dr. Rana Abdul Wajid, from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Aroosa Tariq from Lahore School of Economics.
Opening the Conference, the Rector Lahore School of Economics Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry said, “One very special characteristic which countries and societies need to produce is one good mathematical skills and we are fortunate that we have a large number of talents in all disciplines in Lahore School of Economics. Dr. Ismat Beg and Dr. Rehana Naz of the Lahore School have worked very closely with all the disciplines and have published papers jointly with economics and business.”
Dr. Asma Khalid gave talk on “Role of influence in social network analysis”. This information and ideas were exchanged by Prof. Mujahid Abbas and Prof. Ismat Beg in this area of research. Second speaker of the day was Muhammad Asghar Ali, working in the Department of Mathematics in University of Lahore. He talked about “Numerical Analysis of an SEIR Epidemic Model with the Effect of Time Delay”. Daud Ahmed from University of Punjab came next and spoke on “Quasi-Minimal Bezier Surfaces as the Extremal of Energy Functional”. Muhammad Irfan Ali gave a very interesting talk on “Generlization of Intuitionistic fuzzy set with Application in fuzzy sets”. Some other speakers for the day were Sobia Rafeeq, Zain ul Abdain, Muhammad Umair Shahzad, Nauman Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam Javed and Nauman Ahmed.
The second day resumed with an interesting talk on “Reliable Structure Preserving Numerical Analysis of Epidemic Models “by Muhammad Rafiq, University of Central Punjab, Lahore. The next talk was given by Muhammad Nazam on “Existence of Fixed Points of Set Valued Nonlinear Generalization Contractions” of International Islamic University, Islamabad. Attique ur Rehman from University of Auckland, New Zealand gave an extensive insight on “Couples orbital-thermal evolution of major Uranian Satellites”.
After the break, the talk was given on Best Proximity Point of cyclic contraction mappings and application by Prof. Dr. Mujahid Abbas, Government College University, Lahore. Subsequently, Dr. Muhammad Gulistan of Hazara University shed some light on an application of Cubic Sets in Decision Making using TODIM.
Conference closing remarks were given by Dr. Ismat Beg, Dr. Rana Abdul Wajid, Dr. Asma Khalid and Ms. Anum Qayyum.
