LSEAD participates in Beacon House’s 8th Annual Bilingual Declamations Contest

Ahmad Babar and Feroz Abbad Mehdi of the Lahore School of Economics participated in the 8th Annual Bilingual Declamations Contest held at Beacon House, Liberty Branch. Ahmad Babar spoke on "But, I like to hear myself talk" in the English Humorous category and Feroz Abbas on "Aaj ithad-o-tanzeem par hi humari baqa ka inhisaar hai" in the Urdu Serious category. Young Leaders & Entrepreneurs Summit

Lahore School of Economics got first position in Corporate Symposium in at LUMS.
Young Leaders & Entrepreneurs Summit (YLES ’07) was a 4-day conference Feb 8-11, 2007), held by the LUMS Entrepreneurial Society (LES) gave a platform to 500 college and secondary school students from all over Pakistan. The aim was to promote entrepreneurial spirit and inculcate leadership qualities amongst the participants.
Lahore School Team comprised of Farhan Qasim, Omer Imitiaz, Wassi-Ur- Rehman and Madiha Zohair.

LSEAD Finishes Third in International Debates

Lahore School of Economics Association of Debaters (LSEAD) participated in the 6th GIKI International Parliamentary Debates 2007 held at GIKI from 10-12th Feb, 2007 and secured third position in this international event.

The team of Lahore School qualified for Semi Final where it debated against IIT Delhi. The motion for the house was “This house would retire debts of third world”.

In addition to English Parliamentary Debates the Lahore School also participated in Urdu debates of GIKI and held third position. Urdu debate was recorded by GEO and will be aired on AGG TV as “GEO BOLO BOLO”.

Lahore School Team comprised of Ahmed Iqbal, Ali Murtaza, Khadija Imam, Yasir Rizwan and Fatima Saeed Khan (adjudicator).

Charity Bake Sale

Lahore School's Welfare Society arranged a Charity Bake Sale at Main Campus on Feb 7, 2007.The Welfare society had prepared various food items including Pastas, Brownies, Cakes, Pastries, Dahi Bhallas and Fruit Charts and put them on sale in front of the Library. Students responded to the cause and sale was good. All proceeds will be donated to in charity.

Unilever Campus Drive 2007

Unilever Pakistan Limited visited Lahore School Main Campus on Feb 8, 2007 to conduct an introductory session. The Company gave an informative presentation followed by an interactive Seminar. This session will be followed by on campus testing and interviews for their Management Trainee Program.

Lahore School of Economics hosts University College Lahore at Annual Sports Fixture

Lahore School of Economics hosted University College Lahore (UCL) for a friendly sports fixture on January 31, 2007 at its Main Campus. This was the first complete sports fixture between the two universities in five sporting disciplines: Cricket, Soccer, Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton. The fixtures were attended by students and supporters from both sides on the scenic Burki Campus.

Soccer and cricket that were held simultaneously. The soccer match proved to be an enthralling encounter and the match was decided in the closing minutes. Lahore School scored two goals in the first half. UCL leveled the scores after the half-time. In the closing minutes UCL managed to sneak in the decider.

Cricket on the other hand was a one sided affair. Batting first, the Lahore School, supporting red shirts, scored a total of 119 for 4 in their allotted 8 overs. Lahore School's innings was highlighted by an early scare of losing 3 quick wickets and sixes and fours. UCL were all out for 55 in their seventh over.

Lahore School won the match by 64 Runs.

The Basketball match was played inside the sports complex under bright lights. UCL took 9-3 lead in the first half but then Lahore School team took over the match. UCL managed to level scores in the dying seconds and it was mutually decided to end the match as a draw at 29 points each.

The Table Tennis too were close matches with the balance swinging both sides from time to time. UCL and the Lahore school both managed a victory in the men's singles. UCL clean-swept the women's singles 2-0 but lost out in the exciting Table Tennis match of the day in the men's double by 2 sets to 3.

Badminton was an all Lahore School affair with the Lahore School taking all four matches, 3 men's singles and the men's double. Lahore School won the badminton fixture by 4-0.

Overall, the fixture was drawn at 2-2. All matches were played in great spirit and a lot of friends were made on both sides.

Lahore School Cricket Team Beats LUMS

Cricket match was played between Lahore School of Economics and Lahore University of Management Sciences on January 28, 2007 at LUMS Cricket Ground. In a high scoring encounter, Lahore school won the match by a margin of 100 runs. Batting first the Lahore School amassed 335/5 in 30 overs with Hassan Rahman scoring unbeaten 165 runs and Nabeel Butt chipping in with a useful 45.

In reply Luminites were bowled out for 235. Rao Ghazanfar proved to be the chief slayer of the LUMS batting line-up and took 5 wickets along side Ijlal Rahim who took two important wickets. Hassan Rehman was adjudicated as man of the match.
