On April 19–20, 2025, the Lahore School of Economics, Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences, hosted the 20th Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA25) at its Burki Campus, Amjad Chaudhry Library. This landmark event brought together mathematicians, statisticians, researchers, and practitioners to foster collaboration, share innovative ideas, and address challenges in mathematical sciences. With a cap of 80 participants and no parallel sessions, RAMMMA25 ensured a focused, interactive environment where every presentation sparked in-depth discussions.
RAMMMA 25 aimed to bridge pure and applied mathematics, facilitating the exchange of problems, methods, and insights across disciplines. New mathematical ideas may help in improving modeling of real problems, in deriving innovative and efficient numerical methods, and in developing approximate models which are amenable to mathematical analysis. There exists a non-trivial interplay between mathematics, mathematical modeling of complex systems and mathematical and computer methods oriented towards the qualitative and quantitative analysis of mathematical models. The goal of this conference is to bring together mathematicians and users of mathematics to talk to each other, to transfer problems, ideas and methods from one community to the other, so as to enhance progress in understanding.

Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA)

The Lahore School of Economics hosted a two-day RAMMMMA conference on March 4th and 5th, 2023, which brought together prominent mathematicians and scientists from all over Pakistan. The conference aimed to promote research in mathematics and science and to provide a platform for researchers to exchange ideas and share their latest research findings.
The event began on Saturday, 4th March 2023 with an opening and welcome address by Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, Rector of the Lahore School of Economics. He expressed gratitude to the mathematicians and guests for their support and participation in the event. He also highlighted the development of a bachelor's program in mathematics and plans for a dedicated master's program at the Lahore School of Economics. He emphasized the importance of innovation and adopting new technologies in learning, citing the success of the data analytics degree program. He also spoke about the significance of sharing knowledge and learning collaboratively with field experts. Finally, he discussed the current economic situation and the importance of allowing markets to develop without strict regulation.
The first day of the programme saw a number of fascinating presentations by experts in various fields of mathematics. The first talk of the conference on 4th March 2023, was presented by Ismat Beg, a mathematician at the Lahore School of Economics, spoke on the topic of the “Core of a Convex Mixture Set and Convex Functions”. Zain Ul Abadin Zafar, from the University of Central Punjab, presented his research on the “Fractional-Order Dynamics of Human Papillomavirus”, while F.D. Zaman, from the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, discussed “Nonlinear Elastic Waves in Hyperelasticity”. Other presentations on the first day included Mujahid Abbas from the Government College University, who spoke about “Asymptotic Regularity Property and Enrichment of Operators on a Normed Space with Applications”, and Muhammad Arshad Zia from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, who presented his research on “Existence Theorems for the (Ψ, Φ)-Orthogonal Interpolative Contractions”. Muhammad Sharif also gave a talk on "Compact Objects in Modified Gravity". The day concluded with presentations on various other topics including numerical and optical soliton solutions of stochastic Gross-Pitaevskii equation in dispersive media, reliable numerical analysis for stochastic reaction-diffusion systems, and a clustering algorithm based on fuzzy decision making.
The second day of the programme, Sunday 5th March 2023, also featured a range of presentations on topics such as certain energies of graphs for Dutch windmill and double-wheel graphs, the Ekeland variational principle and some of its equivalents on a weighted graph, completeness and OSC property, and dynamical instability of stellar structure. Other presentations on the second day included research on modified picture fuzzy average aggregation operators with priority roles of stakeholders in implementation of Education 4.0, linear diophantine fuzzy optimization methods and models, and computationally efficient optimal control analysis of coronavirus pandemic models.
The event ended with presentations by Dr. Asghar Qadir, an HEC distinguished professor, on the “Complex Connections between Special Functions, Symmetry Analysis and Singularity Analysis”, and Aamina Jamshaid from the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, who spoke about “Distributional Representation for Special Functions”, as well as Hina Munir Dutt from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, who presented on “Complex Symmetry Analysis”.
The Conference participants expressed their satisfaction with the quality and diversity of the presentations. It provided a platform for researchers to present their latest findings and to network with other researchers in their fields. The Lahore School of Economics hopes to continue hosting such conferences in the future to promote research and development in mathematics and science in Pakistan.

The Lahore School of Economics, Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences hosted, “Fourteenth Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA19)”, on 13th of April, 2019, at the Lahore School’s Burki Campus, Amjad Chaudhry Library.
The goal of this conference was to bring together mathematicians and users of mathematics to talk to each other, to transfer problems, ideas and methods from one community to the other, so as to enhance progress in understanding. The "RAMMMA" tradition has these key features: the number of participants is usually bounded above by 80 with a mix of pure and applied interests; there are no parallel sessions so that all participants focus on each presentation and fully engage in each topic; and there is ample time for discussion of each presentation. The areas of interest of this conference were (but not limited to): Numerical Analysis; Generalization of Intuitionistic fuzzy set with Application in fuzzy sets; Algebraic Linearization; Financial mathematics; Mathematical Biology.

The Lahore School of Economics, Centre for Mathematics and Statistical Sciences (CMSS) hosted annual conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA16)”on April 9-10, 2016, at the Burki Campus. First day of the Conference started with welcome address by the Rector Lahore School of Economics, Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry.

Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications

Lahore School Conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications concluded on 12 April, 2015. In concluding remarks Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, the Rector Lahore School of Economics appreciated the work presented during two days of the Conference.
Earlier on 11 April 2015, Dr. Mujahid Abbas from Department of Mathematics, Syed Babar Ali School of Sciences & Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences spoke on “Characterization of Fuzzy Metric Completeness”. This talk ended with an engaging discussion between researchers working in the field of Metric spaces. Second speaker of the day was Dr. Asghar Qadir who presented paper on “A Generalization of the Goldbach and Twin Prime Conjectures.” Last speaker of the first session was Dr. Asma Khalid from Center for Mathematics and Statistics, Lahore School of Economics. Dr. Asma spoke on Incompleteness in Interval Valued Fuzzy Preference Relations.

Mathematical and Statistical Models in Economics, Finance and Applied Sciences: Analysis and Methods Concludes

The First Lahore School Annual Conference on Mathematical and Statistical Models in Economics, Finance and Applied Sciences concluded on February 7, 2015. Earlier, the second day resumed with session on Applied Statistical Analysis. Dr. Sohail Chand from University of the Punjab and Dr. Syeda Rabab Mudakar from Lahore school of Economics presented interesting papers. Dr. Saleha Naghmi Habibulla, Director Research from Kinnaird College, chaired this session.
Dr. Azam Chaudhry, Dean, Faculty of Economics Lahore School Economics chaired the second session which focused on Analysis of Health Issues in Pakistan. The speakers for this session included Saeeda Batool from National University of Science and Technology, Sara Ahmed and Meera Shafqat from Lahore School of Economics. Dr. Azam concluded the session with interesting discussion and suggestions for speakers. This was followed by tea break in which all the participants enjoyed tea and discussed their ongoing research in their relevant universities.

Mathematical and Statistical Models in Economics, Finance and Applied Sciences: Analysis and Methods

The First Annual Conference on Mathematical and Statistical Models in Economics, Finance and Applied Sciences started on Friday February 6, 2015 at the Main Campus of Lahore School of Economics.
The conference provided an opportunity for eminent Mathematicians, Physicists, Statisticians, Economists and Social Scientists from all over the country to come together and learn from each other. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, Rector of the Lahore School of Economics and Dr. Rana Abdul Wajid, Director, Centre of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences, Lahore School of Economics who warmly welcomed all the guests and faculty members from institutions across the country. Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry explained the critical objective of providing a platform for all likeminded academics from all over Pakistan to join together in research collaborations while Dr. Azam Chaudhry, Dean of Faculty of Economics, Lahore School of Economics delivered the keynote address on “The Role of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences in Social Sciences”.

The closed form solutions of two celebrated economic growth models via partial Hamiltonian approach

Dr. Rehana Naz, Associate Professor at the Centre for Mathematics and Statistical Sciences, Lahore School of Economics, presented her on-going research article on Economic growth theory at the 57th Annual Congress of the South African Mathematical Society held in Unisa Science Campus, Johannesburg, South Africa on October 29-31, 2014. She was invited as a guest speaker to a special session “Differential Equations, Continuum Mechanics and Applications” organized in honor of her PhD supervisor Professor David Mason’s 70th birthday.
Dr. Naz presented a paper titled “The closed form solutions of two celebrated economic growth models via partial Hamiltonian approach”. The partial Hamiltonian approach is algorithmic and applies to many state and costate variables of the current value Hamiltonian. The current value Hamiltonian systems arise for two celebrated Economic growth models: Ramsey model and Lucas-Uzawa model. The partial Hamiltonian approach is utilized to construct the closed form solutions to study dynamics of these models. The gross saving rate, growth rates of consumption and capital are derived for the Ramsey model with endogenous time preferences. For the Lucas-Uzawa model, closed form solutions are constructed to study several features associated with transitional dynamics of model.

Qualitative and Quantitative Techniques for Differential Equations arising in Economics, Finance and Natural Sciences

Dr. Rehana Naz organized a special session in 10th AIMS conference on “Dynamical Systems, Differential Equations and Applications” held in Spain Madrid from July 7 to July 11, 2014. Mariano Torrisi (University of Catania, Italy); Igor Leite Freire (UFABC, Brazil) and Imran Naeem (LUMS, Pakistan) were also part of organizing committee. Eminent mathematicians, physicists, statisticians and economists from all over the world attended this special session. Dr. Naz has presented a paper titled “The closed form solutions of some Economic growth models via partial Hamiltonian approach.” The abstracts of all papers presented in special session can be found here.

Amidst distinguished mathematicians, physicists, statisticians and academicians from all over Pakistan, the Lahore School of Economics hosted atwo day Mathematics conference titled Lahore School conference on Recent Advances in Mathematical Methods, Models and Applications (RAMMMA ) concluded on April 20, 2014.
