Lahore School of Economics Convocation 2013


Lahore School of Economics’ Tenth Annual Convocation was held at the main campus on Jan 26, 2013. Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry, the Chairman and Rector Lahore School conferred degrees and awards to graduating students of PhD (1), MPhil (9), MS Economics (2), MSc Economics (4), Masters in Business Administration, BSc Economics, Bachelors of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (Executive). In his welcome address, Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry highlighted the role of Lahore School of Economics in research and in major specializations of Economics, Finance, Business Administration and related fields of studies including Social Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Environment, Media Studies and Art and Design. He pointed out that Lahore School graduates are well received in all leading sectors of Pakistan Economy and are receiving the highest starter level salaries in the country.


Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry also presented annual Rectors report of the School. The Lahore School of Economics, chartered in 1997, has the distinction of being the first private sector not-for-profit degree granting institution established by the Government of Punjab. Since its inception the School has matured as a reputed institution of higher learning with a wide range of academic disciplines including economics, business, finance, social sciences, media studies art and design, mathematics, statistics and environmental sciences at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels.


The Lahore School publishes three academic journals viz. a leading economics journal – The Lahore Journal of Economics – and an important policy studies journal, The Lahore Journal of Policy Studies and the Lahore Journal of Business. The Lahore School also has hosted since 2004 an “Annual Conference on the Management of the Pakistan Economy” with the ninth conference now scheduled for March this year.


Dr. Rashid Amjad, an eminent economist, Lahore School Professor of Economics and the Director Lahore School Institute of Development Economics Lahore School addressed the convocation and noted the role of Lahore School in furthering research in fields related to development and economics.
