A distinguished seat of learning known for high-quality teaching and research

Strength of communication

Syed Toqueer Akhtar, Assistant Professor at Lahore School of Economics, did his masters in economics from Government College Lahore back in 1990. Since then he has been teaching, working on research projects and or developing curriculum in the related fields.

Well versed with computers, especially research applications, Toqueer Syed has interests in poetry and writing as well.

On the subject of student teacher communication, Professor Toqueer Syed says, “To meet the growing demand for business and economic managers and professionals, in a dynamic outlook, there is also a growing concern and need to up-grade and ensure scholastic integrity and feel the need to evolve these standards. But before thinking of having potential benefits of the same one should not forget to apply the necessary condition. Essentially, there is a scope of ensuring prerequisites in this regard.”

“On supremacy and strength of communication between the teacher and students, there are some basic values that need to be iterated. Firstly, the process of socialization should always moves from the teacher to students not the vice versa. Secondly, after realizing relative strengths and deficiencies of audience, for teachers there is a need to endorse, maintain and sustain the required level of advancement. Eventually, power of communication should be assessed accordingly,” adds Toqueer Syed.

How to achieve this? Toqueer Syed says, “To achieve this policy aim, top-down approach seems more appropriate. To appear more precise, I would recommend that the development of efficacy criteria for ‘good communication’ should make sure that ‘required academic quality’ is not sacrificed.”
