Poverty Research Unit

Lahore School of Economics Centre for Research has established a Poverty Research Unit headed by Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhry with Dr. Salman Ahmad, and Dr. Abdul Wajid Rana as its members. The aim of the Poverty Research Unit is to develop an existing and innovative new areas of research on poverty issues. As their first project, the Unit will be measuring food poverty in district Lahore. On the basis of primary data, economic and statistical analysis will be done to know causes of what influences poverty, the choice of going to school. This analysis will be extended to all districts of Punjab. [By Dr. Salman Ahmad]
