Lahore School of Economics wins 1st position in Policy Case Competition

A team of senior year students from the BSc Economics and Finance Program competed in Kinnaird College’s Policy Case Competition at the Annual Economics Tutorial alongside other prestigious universities. The students were Ameera Khan, Fizza Rahman, Maria Syed, Muhammad Musa Faraz.


In this year’s competition, the policy brief was based on the government’s notion of “Creating 10 million jobs in the next 5 years”. The team from Lahore School of Economics devised a framework based on the government’s 11 point agenda targeting labour-centric sectors.

LAHORE SCHOOL WINS FINANCE COMPETITION ‘FINTRA’

Lahore School of Economics won the Finance Competition held at LUMS under brand PHOENIX on 10th-12th February 2017 securing 1st prize of PKR 30,000/. Contestants from well-known professional educational institutions from all over Pakistan participated in the competition. Lahore School team Alpha team comprised Waqar Khurram, Qasim Naeem, Qasim Ali and Hamza Ahmad.


The competition encompassed various financial segments like intricate Live Trading, Financial Valuations, CFA Quizzes, Elevator Pitch followed by Case Studies.

Lahore School Music Society wins Fast Music Fest 2017


Fast Music Fest was held at FAST on 28th and 29th January 2017 where 2 teams from Lahore School of Economics participated. One of the Lahore School team which consisted of 2 members (singer Mohammad Asfandyar Asad and guitarist Shahraiz) secured 1st position in singing competition among 20 other teams.

Lahore School of Economics Film and Media Awards

Lahore School of Economics Film and Media Club was the winners at the BNU Bestival Add Making Category.

The team (Salman Bokhari, Farzam Asad and Asad ur Rehman) have made a hatrick: After winning at Kinnaird Business Week and then at FiLUMS, it managed to win at BNU Bestival 2016 in Video Production.

Advertising Symposium


IDEA - an Advertising Symposium was organised by Lahore School Marketing Society on February 9, 2016 in Main Library, LSE. The session was moderated by Ms Komal Sultan. The Panel-lists included, Asad Rizvi - MD Walter Pakistan, Babar Zafar - A TVC Director, Faisal Rehman - Actor/Model and Abdul Hadi - Product Manager at Coca Cola. The session was informative for the students of marketing and advertising.

Placement Office

The Lahore School Placement Office  is organizing a series of test preparation session for the MBA II and Bachelors final year students. The purpose of these organisation entry session is to improve the mathematical and analytical skills of the students for the upcoming organizations entry tests.


The sessions’ focused is on areas like Numerical Reasoning Tests, Diagrammatic Reasoning Tests, Time Management and Test Giving Techniques.

NUS Summer Program on Economic and Enterprise Development

Amongst a group of 15 Pakistanis - chosen from 450 applicants from around Pakistan - Tooba Sultan, Lahore School student of BSc was selected for the Summer Program at National University of Singapore (NUS) because of her academic and non-academic achievements.


The Summer Program is sponsored by Sajjad Foundation, Habib University, Al-Karam Textile Mills Limited, Hilton Pharma Ltd. and Bank Islami Pakistan Limited.

Street Children’s Day

Lahore School of Economics Marketing Society along with the collaboration of the Social Welfare Society decorated the wall of Auditorium 15 and 16 with the photos of Street Children, facts about their life, causes and effects with the hashtag #tweetforthestreet on January 31, 2015. The day was celebrated for the homeless children in Pakistan.


In real Marketing World, reputed multinational companies work a lot for the welfare of society. This not only improve their brand image but also helps them in getting the donations. Similarly, HSBC, AVIVA and TESCO work with StreetChildren.org for the betterment of all the homeless kids around the world.

South Asian Economics Students’ Meet

The 11th South Asian Economics Students’ Meet (SAESM) was held in Thimpu, Bhutan from December 23-26, 2014. Seven countries participated in the event with each having a 10 member delegation. Team Pakistan comprised of undergraduate students from LUMS and the Lahore School of Economics.


The students competed in three different events: Research Paper Submission and Presentation, Budding Economist Competition and Team Quiz Competition. Azeem Arslan Hassan, BSc IV (B) and President of the Lahore School Economics Society, presented a paper on the sub-theme “Trade Facilitation and Competitiveness in South Asia”, and won the “Best Paper Award.”


Mehak Anjum Siddiquei, BSc IV (C), also presented a paper on the sub-theme “FDI and Technological Transfers within South Asia”, whereas Rohail Ashraf Sadiq, BSc IV (A), represented Pakistan in the Budding Economist and team quiz competition. The Lahore School students gave impressive performances in their respective categories and received a lot of praise for their efforts. Rohail Ashraf Sadiq made it to the Semi-final round of the Budding Economist competition and was a part of the four member Pakistan team that were runners’ up in the quiz competition. The students attended three days of academic activities and also enjoyed two days of retreat in Paro, Bhutan from 27th to 29th December.

Lahore School Collaboration with Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia

The Lahore School of Economics has recently established a long term cooperative relationship with Macquarie University, Australia. The Lahore School of Economics has been given the highest rating by the HEC’s business school accreditation council and Macquarie University has been ranked as a 5 start university by the QS rating system.



Macquarie University comprises of 33 departments with five faculties and the university offers 87 undergraduate courses and 124 different postgraduate courses to students.

The areas covered in the joint agreement are Student Exchange Faculty Exchange, Joint Research, Joint conferences/meetings and Exchange of Academic Materials/information.

Lahore School Photo Walk


Lahore School Photography Society organized a Photo Walk after two successful workshops on basic and intermediate photography to Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque. Total of 27 society members participated in the walk on June 15, 2014. Lahore School Arts Society was also invited to the guided Walk. Students snapped some amazing images during the Walk.

Lahore School student wins William A. Watt Memorial Award in USA

Lahore School student Jawad Nasir, who left to study for one year in the U.S at The University of Georgia last year in June on the Rotary Scholarship (GRSP, was conferred William A. Watt Memorial Award (GRSP Student of the Year). This award is given to one of the 50 scholars who attend the scholarship every year as a reward for promoting the program's ideology of peace and accord among nations. The award this year was shared by two students from Pakistan.

On return after successfully representing both Pakistan and the Lahore School of Economics, Jawad intends to continue his degree at the Lahore School.

Battle of the Minds 2014

The Lahore School of Economics Team won the Battle of the Minds 2014 competition arranged by the Pakistan Tobacco company. Battle of the Minds has a rich legacy in South Asia Area (SAA) as one of the most successful competition based platforms to source the crème de la crème talent from a broad spectrum of universities across the academic landscape in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Over 12000 students registered for the event and 7000 gave the test. The semifinals included 10 teams selected from the six top universities of Pakistan, out of which 5 teams reached the final round.


The final round took place in Serena Hotel in Islamabad, on April 28, 2014. The panel of judges included Mr. Kamran Lashari, Dr. Moeed Pirzada, Executive Director GAP, Sacha Cotting, Marketing Director South Asia and Mr. Muntaser Khan Head Supply Chain of PTC .
