Management of Pakistan Economy (May 2-3, 2006)

Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Shamshad Akhtar will inaugurate the Second Annual Conference on the Management of the Pakistan Economy on May 2, 2006 at the Lahore School of Economics.

The Lahore School of Economics is organizing Second International Conference on Management of Pakistan Economy on May 2-3, 2006 at its Main Campus. The Conference will bring together a group of distinguished policymakers, academics, and international experts related to economic management. Many of them would be are presenting papers on various aspects of the management of the economy of Pakistan. Some of the subjects to be discussed are Key Challenges in Economic Development of Pakistan, Sustainability of Fiscal and Monetary System, Knowledge Economy, Key Issues in Industrial Growth in Pakistan, External Account and Foreign Debt Management, Intergovernmental Resources Transfers: Prospects and Issues, Local Government Finance, Federal and Provincial Public Management, and Civil Service Paradigm.

Shkib Sherani, Chief Economist ABN-AMRO Bank, Dr. Rashid Amjad, ILO, Dr. A. R. Kamal, Director Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, Dr. Ashfaque H. Kahn, Economic Advisor / Chief Debt Management Cell Finance Ministry, Dr. Zubair M. Khan, former Federal Minister for Commerce, Shahid Kardar, Economist and former Finance Minister Punjab, Javed Hassan Ali, former Secretary Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan and Dr. Moazam Mahmood will be among speakers.
