Seminar on Human Resource Management

Lahore School of Economics organized a seminar on Human Resource Management at Mehmud Chaudhry Library on November 26, 2013. The panel included Mr. Haroon Waheed, winner of the International Best Leadership Award 2010, currently working as HR Head Fatima Group, Mr. Amir Hamid, Executive Director Adamjee Insurance, Ms. Ayesha and Ms. Sheema Atta from Fatima Group.
“If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend the first four hours sharpening the axe,” Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Amir Hamid emphasized that one should always be prepared, do the required homework, shortlist organizations and know ones geographical boundaries before applying for a job. He said that approximately 10,000 students graduate every year nationwide out of which 2000 graduate from Lahore. The job market is gradually becoming very competitive and challenging. Mr. Hamid said that trends are changing and opportunities are increasing for females. Currently the female to male trend is 52% to 48% respectively.
While talking about the expectations from candidates he said that performance, self motivation, innovativeness, communication skills, ambition, integrity, flexibility, energy, ethics, discipline and decision making power are the most important attributes one should possess. “Always be positive, think positive and positive things will happen in one’s life,” he said.
After questions and answers session Dr. Sohail Zafar, the Dean of Business Administration also addressed the students [Sadaf A Malik].
