Mr. Kashif Khawaja, Country Manager (Footwear) at Service Industries Limited, gave a talk to MBA students on 23rd April 2018 on Business Policy and Strategy. The distinguished speaker commenced the session by advising students to be strategic and proactive even in everyday life. It is because thinking ahead can facilitate goal achievement in an effective manner. He emphasized that strategy of a firm, as commonly perceived, is not about the intended direction of the company. Conversely, it is about making choices and differentiating your organization from the competitors in the market.
He further remarked that simplicity, clarity and differentiation are the defining characteristics of strategy as these aspects of the strategy can assist strategist to deal with the scarcity of resources. The best strategies are those that are simple and easy to comprehend for effective implementation. He also opined that even though all leaders are not good strategist but a good leader can always encourage lateral thinking. He concluded the session by advising students to not get disappointed by failures in life and never stop trying.
