Lahore School Marketing Society Session

The Marketing Society of the Lahore School of Economics invited Mr. Muzzammil, Area Sales Manager of LU Biscuits, to talk about marketing and sales, and about what sales managers do so that our students can get equipped with the right skills and attitude for jobs in sales and in trade marketing. The session was held on February 17, 2023 on campus.


Mr Muzzammil started by noting that both marketing and sales work hand in glove. He reminded all that the consumer behavior model of marketing at a minimum was illustrated by Awareness, Trial and Repurchase. It was marketing which built awareness but it was both marketing and sales that built and ensured trial and repurchase.

A sales manager ensures that the targets set by the company and communicated to him or her by his or her superiors are met through ensuring that the KPIs set are met. He oversees both the primary and secondary sales, and supervises his team. He also takes responsibility for trade marketing which lies somewhere between marketing and sales and is targeted at the channel members such as the distributor but especially the wholesaler and the retailer.

Last but not least, the guest encouraged women to join sales and trade marketing teams.
