Lahore School wins IBA branding and advertising competition


The Lahore School of Economics students took part in IBAC 5.0 and won the ‘Most Innovative Team’ Award in 3 days IBA Branding & Advertising Conference.

Lahore School of Economics Young Peace and Development Corps' Orientation 17 and All Punjab YPDC Workshop

Punjab Young Peace and Development Corp Chapters Workshop and Lahore School Young Peace and Development Corps' Orientation 2017 was held at Amjad Chaudhry Library at the Lahore School of Economics on 30 October 2017. Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Interior and Planning, Development and Reform, was the chief guest.


Dr. Shahid Amjad Chaudhary, the Rector Lahore School, faculty and large number of students from different chapters of Young Peace and Development Corps were present.

In the first session, the Federal Minister highlighted the basic agenda of YPDC - provision of space for dialogue, developing leadership qualities and building a bridge between youth and the government. He said, “The youth should be engaged for development and must be prepared for challenges related to practical life.’’

He announced that YPDC will soon be offering opportunities to 200 youth leaders to work in multinational organizations all over the world through the platform of YPDC. His speech was followed by a question and answer session where the Federal Minister interacted with the audience and answered their queries.

The second session consisted of discussion among the delegates representing different chapters of YPDC in various universities. The session was chaired by a panel of experts. The main agenda for discussion of this session was ‘‘Future opportunities for the youth in regards to Vision 2025?’’

LAHORE SCHOOL WINS FINANCE COMPETITION ‘FINTRA’

Lahore School of Economics won the Finance Competition held at LUMS under brand PHOENIX on 10th-12th February 2017 securing 1st prize of PKR 30,000/. Contestants from well-known professional educational institutions from all over Pakistan participated in the competition. Lahore School team Alpha team comprised Waqar Khurram, Qasim Naeem, Qasim Ali and Hamza Ahmad.


The competition encompassed various financial segments like intricate Live Trading, Financial Valuations, CFA Quizzes, Elevator Pitch followed by Case Studies.

Lahore School Music Society wins Fast Music Fest 2017


Fast Music Fest was held at FAST on 28th and 29th January 2017 where 2 teams from Lahore School of Economics participated. One of the Lahore School team which consisted of 2 members (singer Mohammad Asfandyar Asad and guitarist Shahraiz) secured 1st position in singing competition among 20 other teams.

Lahore School Marketing Society and Entrepreneurial Business Society members participated in Young Leaders and Entrepreneurial Summit’17 held at LUMS which from 6th - 9th January 2017.


Young Leaders' and Entrepreneurs' Summit is a unique platform, which encourages young talent to understand entrepreneurship. The platform has several rounds which include Ad making challenges, Business Idea concept generation and many more.

Lahore School wins IBA marketing competition

Lahore School of Economics participated in the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi Business and Advertising Conference and won a trophy.


Over 57 teams from all over the country participated in the competitions during three days Conference (10-12th February 2017). The Conference consisted of various competitions: Print Ad, TVC Making Competition, Repositioning and Marketing Strategy, Digital Ad Campaign Competition and a final presentation on different brands like McDonald's, Nestlé, PSO, TPL Holdings, Airblue, 14th Street Pizza and more.

Due to their exceptional performance at the event, a Dubai based Ad agency offered summer internships to Lahore School’s participating students (Henna Bhatti, Ale Mohammad, Talha Hyder, Nabia Saqib, Ali Sajawal Khan, Amna Arshad Kinza Babar, Adnan Saeed, Ali Tariq and Ramla Ahmed Cheema.

Lahore School Campus Life

Lahore School of Economics Photography Society organized its 2nd Annual Photography Competition from 13th March to 17th March 2016. In this competition there were total of 4 categories which included thematic concepts, monochrome photography, photo story, and photo scavenger. There were not more than two participants each team consisted of and total of 25 teams participated in the competition. Photo Scavenger hunt took place on campus where all other categories participants had an option to do anywhere in Lahore. In photo scavenger participants were given time of two hours to complete list of eleven activities.


On 17th March 2016 event photographer Osman Pervez Mughal came to give the workshop on improving techniques about framing and concept. Followed by the workshop Mr. Osman Pervez Mughal and Nikon Marketing Manager Mr. Faisal Malik judged the competition.

Lahore School Annual Play 2016

Dramatics Society in Lahore School of Economics organized two plays on 11th and 12th April 2016: Punjabi classical folklore Heer by Warish Shah and a farcical comedy Charley’s Aunt by Brandon Thomas.


It has been 250 years since Waris Shah’s magnum opus, Heer was written in Malka Hans, Punjab. The qissa undoubtedly stands at the centre of the Punjabi literary tradition, echoing across time, across genres, reinventing itself through the works of poetic giants such as Madhu Lal Hussain, Bulleh Shah and Sachal Sarmast. In addition to its intellectual value, Heer Waris has also had a vibrant performative life, animating Punjab’s folk tradition and consciousness through popular music and theatre. Today, the place of Heer Waris in the local imaginary is shrinking rapidly, making it more important than ever to re-visit the monumental epic to try to re-vitalise the historical cultural links which Punjab has lost.

A Talk on the dynamics of Peace Building, Conflict Handling and General Career Counseling by Mr Hussain Nadim was organized on 14 March 2016. Mr Hussain Nadim is the Founding Director of the Peace and Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, Government of Pakistan, an Oxford graduate and also recognized by the Forbes Magazine as one of its global leaders under the age of 30 in Law and Policy.

Lahore School of Economics Film and Media Awards

Lahore School of Economics Film and Media Club was the winners at the BNU Bestival Add Making Category.

The team (Salman Bokhari, Farzam Asad and Asad ur Rehman) have made a hatrick: After winning at Kinnaird Business Week and then at FiLUMS, it managed to win at BNU Bestival 2016 in Video Production.

Orientation’15 and Photo Booth


Lahore School of Economics Photography Society organized its orientation for the year 2014-15 on October 1, 2014. The session was attended by the students who wish to pursue photography as an extracurricular activity in the university. President and Vice President of the society briefed the students about the new council, past successes and the future plans. Orientation session was followed by a vintage themed photo booth which received a lot of attention and popularity from the students.

NUMAISH


Lahore School Finance Society (LSFIS) held its first event 'NUMAISH' by Dr Shakil Faruqi on September 25, 2014 in the Main Shed at the Main Campus. Over 300 books were distributed for free to the faculty members and students. The book collection comprised of various subject areas including finance, micro economics, macroeconomics, management and political sciences also some SBP, IMF and World Bank reports.

Lahore School Social Welfare Society

Lahore School Social Welfare Society arranged a workshop with Miss Tanzila Khan on the September 19, 2014 in Mehmood Chaudhry Library.


Miss Tanzila Khan talked about self motivation and how to think out of the box (she said there is no box). She asked students to tell their stories and then to sum it off on one word. The audience actively took part in the activity and some great moving stories were shared.
