Generic Strategy

Mr Arif Ijaz, Advisor to CEO Maple Leaf, visited the Lahore School of Economics, on May 30, 2016, to address the graduating MBA class on the topic “Generic Strategy.” The speaker said there are four questions to consider when making a strategy:
- Who are you? (mission statement)
- Where do you want to go? (position statement)
- How will you get there?
- How do you measure your success?
Mr. Ijaz asked the students to pick any one organisation and encouraged them to answer these four questions in order to try to come up with organization’s strategy. The students picked Gourmet due to its diverse product range.
The rest of the session was spent in an interesting interaction between the students and the speaker as they tried to answer the four questions in Gourmet’s context.
